KAUST startup Polymeron reduces the need for single-use common plastics by manufacturing 100%-biodegradable polymeric materials, using organic waste leftover from local date and poultry farms.
Polymeron’s bioplastics can be used in traditional plastic extruders to manufacture products ranging from soil-degradable bioplastic bags to compostable single-use cutlery.
Can help cut single-use plastics, which account for more than 40% of all plastic production and remain in ecosystems for hundreds of years.
Winner of the USD$1-million Omnipreneurship Sustainability Challenge, organized by Tanmiah Food Company.
